Here's just a small sampling of the outreach projects we have done.
We support two orphans in Africa.
At Christmas, we partner with the City of Linden Special Services Department to provide Christmas presents for twenty underprivileged Linden school children. We also send gifts overseas to African children through Operation Christmas Child.
At the most recent Linden 5K Mayor Run, we distributed water to the runners.
In the summer, we donate to the Eddie Gray Memorial Fund. Our contribution enabled the Fund to send two children from Elizabeth to summer camp.
Every year in October, we host an animal blessing on the lawn for neighborhood critters.
With the 2015 Lenten devotion monies collected, we donated to Nets for Life, an organization that partners with the Episcopal Relief Fund and provides life-sustaining items to individuals in Africa.
In light of the recent refugee crisis, we help sponsor families seeking refuge in the United States. We have donated all of our 2016 Lenten collection to the International Rescue Committee. The committee assists legally entering refugees establish homes, education, and jobs. With the committees assistance, the families can become self-sustaining members of American society.
We support the Linden Interfaith Network for Community Services Food Pantry (LINCS) throughout the year. The pantry services approximately 200 Linden families. Our donations have included canned goods as well as monetary gifts.
We at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church are small but mighty. We try at all times to give to the greater community.
